Distance Education Pilot Program Launched by PHEAA
Penn State recently agreed to participate in a five-year state grant distance education pilot program, approved by the Pennsylvania legislature and the PHEAA Board of Directors. This program includes the current 2013-14 academic year. The pilot's purpose is to gather vital enrollment and completion rate data about Pennsylvania students receiving their higher education through online learning. Currently, these students are ineligible for the state grant without this pilot program. Funding for this initiative is limited so not all eligible students will receive a grant.
Nominees will be notified by email or paper letter and directed to view their updated Pennsylvania State Grant status, through their PHEAA Access Account.
Although first award notifications begin mid-November, disbursement of Fall 2013 funds will not occur until early January 2014 when Spring semester monies disburse.
Nominations will continue throughout the academic year as students finalize enrollment for upcoming semesters.
