Fee Increases for Federal Loans Begin December 1

Origination fees for Stafford and PLUS loans to increase December 2013.

The Department of Education recently announced that fees for Federal Direct Loans will increase for new loans disbursed on or after December 1, 2013.

The loan fees for subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans will increase from 1.051 to 1.072 percent. Parent and Graduate PLUS Loan fees will increase from 4.204 to 4.288 percent.
