Prepare for Study Abroad
Step 1: Apply for financial aid
Refer to our How to Apply for Financial Aid section for directions and explanations.
Step 2: Meet with an education abroad adviser
Make an appointment to meet with a representative from the Office of Global Programs. Cost sheets and scholarship application information are available at Office of Global Programs.
Step 3: Review your student aid summary
If you are eligible for Federal Work-Study for both fall and spring, but will be abroad during the fall semester, log into eLion, click on "Students" and select "Work-Study Extension" and then "Spring Only" to request that your award be saved for the spring semester.
Step 4: Apply for additional financial aid
The Office of Student Aid will adjust your cost of attendance based on the specific costs of your approved program provided by the Office of Global Programs. If your cost of attendance increases based on this adjustment, you can apply for additional aid. Please note: Not all adjustments will increase the cost of attendance. In some cases, the adjustment may decrease your cost of attendance.
Step 5: Confirm your registration
Incomplete registration can result in a loss of student financial aid. Confirm your registration on your tuition bill before you leave for your education abroad program. Your registration is not complete until you access your tuition bill on eLion, select a payment option, and confirm/complete your registration.
