Prepare for Study Abroad
Apply for financial aid
Refer to our How to Apply for Financial Aid section for directions and explanations.
Meet with an education abroad adviser
Make an appointment to meet with a representative from the Office of Global Programs. Cost sheets and scholarship application information are available at Penn State Global.
Review your Award Summary
If you are eligible for Federal Work-Study for both fall and spring, but will be abroad during the fall semester, log into LionPATH and accept your award by selecting the "Accept/Decline Awards" link listed in the Finances section of LionPATH.
Apply for additional financial aid
The Office of Student Aid will adjust your cost of attendance based on the specific costs of your approved program provided by the Office of Global Programs. If your cost of attendance increases* based on this adjustment, you can apply for additional aid. You may also want to search for Education Abroad specific scholarships.
*Please note: Not all adjustments will increase the cost of attendance. In some cases, your cost of attendance will not change.
Pay your Financial Statement
Unpaid balances can result in late fees and scheduling holds. Make sure that your charges are paid in full before you leave for your program.
